This 3338 sq. ft., 3-story Lowcountry home features 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, designed with an emphasis on spaciousness and luxury. The collaborative effort with the client, who actively engaged in the building process, resulted in a home that is perfectly suited to their needs and preferences.
We were approached by this client who also happened to be the owner of a lighting distributorship. He was looking to develop his lot as a future rental home in Blue Gray Estates which is located by the Succession Golf Club in Beaufort, South Carolina. With an overall Lowcountry home design in mind, we discussed his additional expectations, building plans and reviewed the land survey. Due to the excess amount of clay in the dirt on this elevated lot, we not only had to muck and compact it to provide proper and correct, but we also had to pay close attention and awareness to the ground height we were building on. As important as the preparation of the foundation was to this build, we also had to coordinate proper clearing for this heavily wooded lot at the same time. Due to environmental restrictions on foliage and trees that could not be disturbed, we had to make sure our research was up to date and decisions were correctly executed. Site prep often takes going the extra mile to guarantee an overall cohesive (and correct!) building process.
The project began with strategic placement to preserve the majestic Live Oaks, a signature feature of Blue Grey Estates. During the building phase, we focused on ensuring balanced air circulation throughout the home due to the very high ceilings. This attention to detail was crucial in maintaining the home's overall comfort and efficiency. Special features of the home include a large garage, Euro wall at the rear, and a spacious porch, all designed to enhance both functionality and aesthetics.
It’s the details that made the biggest difference because it kept this building process on track. For us, details include job sites that are organized and kept tidy as well as enclosed for safety. It also means our tradesmen are the best for the job. We were grateful for our electrician who created the best electrical plan for this build and the usage needed. Knowing our client was in the lighting industry, we knew all lighting functions and allowances needed to be accurate for his chosen light fixtures to work properly. We enjoyed working alongside him as we discovered new ways to incorporate his specifically chosen light fixtures to highlight his new home.
The final building phase included installation of matte finish, edge grain pine floors, cultivating a touch of elegance and durability throughout the home. The project was completed with meticulous attention to detail, resulting in a beautiful, functional residence that perfectly fits the clients' needs. The collaborative effort ensured that the final product reflected both the classic Lowcountry charm and modern amenities, creating a perfect home for these clients.

Towards the final stages of this build, we were extremely pleased to see every element of the design process come together. After David completed his final walk through, we were eager to show it to our client. Aside from the overall completed home, the unique light fixtures, 28-foot ceilings, LVP floors that emulated old reclaimed oak wood flooring, a giant back porch and fire pit were just a few of our highlighted favorites. Stories don’t always end when the home is completely built. Through this experience, we were able to work with our client again and look forward to completing another project for him this coming year.
